Under license from Ziff Davis Media, popular technology magazine ‘PC Magazine Middle and Near Eastâ€, the 16-year-old regional publication, will be officially re-launched in the Middle East during GITEX 2009, by Altus Publishing Group. GITEX is the largest IT extravaganza in the region, and one of the biggest IT exhibitions in the world.
As a feature of the Middle East publishing space for over 16 continuous years, PC Magazine has established itself with technology enthusiasts as the single most important tool to separate truth from fiction when they’re investing in hardware, software, solutions and services.
“We are excited about aligning with Altus Publishing Group and their team of seasoned professionals who have shown a strong track record of dedication to the PC Magazine brand. We look forward to the revival of PC Magazine in the Middle East, a region we believe is positioned for significant growth in the technology vertical,†said Neil Glass, the SVP Licensing and the Chief Financial Officer at Ziff Davis Media.
Driven by a young and dynamic editorial team with over a decade of experience in technology and media, PC Magazine blends the best international IT coverage with product analysis, reviews and documented results of rigorous Lab testing. This has led to its wide acceptance as the most trusted and authoritative source of technology information in the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Hatim Kantawalla, the Publisher at Altus Publishing Group and long time head of the PC Magazine Middle and Near East team in Dubai, added, “As a reader, editor, and publisher, I have had a long association with the title and it gives me immense pleasure in keeping PC Magazine’s torch burning bright within the region. I am really excited that much of the original PC Magazine Middle East team is getting back together to be a part of this top-notch technology magazine. We’re delighted to have the opportunity to re-launch the magazine here with Ziff Davis.â€
While the new-and-improved PC Magazine edition will debut a fresh new look and a new editorial direction, it does bring back several members of the original PC Magazine Middle and Near East editorial team, including Managing Editor, Chris N. Fernando; Features Editor, Bassema Demashkia; and Assistant Technical Editor, Victor Philip Ortiz.
Chris N. Fernando, the Managing Editor of PC Magazine Middle and Near East at Altus Publishing Group, further discussed the magazine’s new look and its re-launch. “Our goal is to provide friendly, credible and authoritative information that will help our readers in their technology buying decisions. I have absolute confidence in Altus Publishing Group’s expertise, innovation and creativity, which will deliver an exceptional magazine for technology lovers and enthusiasts, our colleagues in the industry, and our readers across the Middle East and North Africa region,†explained Fernando.
Dojo Jose, the Director of Sales at Altus Publishing Group, commented that for many years PC Magazine has been providing reviews and previews of the latest hardware and software for professionals and technology enthusiasts alike. “We’re extremely happy to debut the all-new PC Magazine Middle and Near East. And while the new magazine is different than its previous incarnation in many ways, it is the same in one essential way: our mission continues to be the most authoritative guide to technology. The way in which we go about fulfilling that mission is what is entirely new and different,†said Jose.
