Bahrain’s Akhbar Al Khaleej newspaper reappeared today after a one-day ban imposed by the authorities. “Official authorities have issued directives lifting the ban,†Bahrain News Agency said. The newspaper was earlier suspended for reasons related to the Press law, a report said. Akhbar Al Khaleej, first published in 1976, is the oldest newspaper in the country. A publishing ban on Bahrain’s oldest newspaper was overturned on Monday, after it had been shut down after it published an article claiming that Iran’s hardline president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may be Jewish.
